Lab-grown diamond brand Smiling Rocks has joined the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), marking a new stage in its commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.
The New York-based company said membership aligns it with the RJC’s standards on responsible sourcing, social impact and environmental performance. It is among the first lab-grown diamond jewellery brands to achieve RJC membership and will now work towards full certification.
Chief executive and co-founder Zulu Ghevriya said the move reflected the firm’s continued focus on responsible growth. He said: “Being one of the first lab-grown diamond jewellery brands to become an RJC member is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and transparency.”
Founded in 2018, Smiling Rocks operates a philanthropic business model, donating a proportion of its sales to causes covering animal and wildlife protection, medical support, education and environmental protection.
The company has also been accredited as an SCS-007 Diamond Handler by certification body SCS Global Services and holds Positive Luxury’s Butterfly Mark for sustainability performance.
