Boodles has launched its Palace Collection in partnership with Historic Royal Palaces, reimagining “intricate” and “lavish” details on the regal buildings in high jewellery.
The charity manages and conserves the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens.
To create the new range, the family-owned luxury jeweller reimagined “intricate and lavish” details from the regal buildings in high jewellery.
The line’s Tudor Skyline collar, for instance, which demanded 350 CAD and bench hours to make. It comprises 346 individual elements, designed to mirror historic masterpieces such as the Spitalfields Mantua dress from the Georgian era.
Boodles said its designers were especially inspired by “obscure, often unnoticed components” of the buildings, for example reinterpreting a mural in Hampton Court Palace painted by Antonio Verrio into the Queen Anne’s Mural suite of sapphires, mandarin garnets and diamonds.
The After Dark suite simultaneously mirrors the carved heraldic beasts of King Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace using CNC and hand-finishing techniques, which the company said advanced its workshop’s technical capabilities.
The After Dark pendant features detachable elements and an eagle-head chain, with a White Yale set in carved white opal and a Black Yale in carved onyx, reflecting the “royal iconography” of Chapel Court.
Rooted in the palace’s 250-year-old Great Vine, The Great Vine Earrings reinterpret the movement of its branches and grapes into gold leaf motifs set with peridots, garnets, pink tourmalines and diamonds.
Meanwhile, the collection’s Royal Damask Rings are based on Queen Mary II’s State Bedroom at Kensington Palace, interpreted in gemstones and bold colours intended to reflect the “vibrant” colours and “opulent” damask motifs of her ‘Genoa’ silk velvet.
Its Presence Chamber Pendants have their roots in a ceiling at Kensington Palace devised by William Kent, whose Roman-inspired mythological bold figures and fronds have been transformed into red enamel, rubies, sapphires and tourmalines.
Additionally, Queen Mary’s passion for blue and white porcelain is embodied in Royal Porcelain Necklace, through blue enamel, sapphires and white diamonds, with the detailed designs of her collections translated into leaf motifs.
Boodles said: “This high jewellery collection celebrates technical mastery, exceptional craftsmanship and the rarest gemstones, capturing architectural and decorative details to create suites that echo the vibrancy and magic of these historic palaces. Each piece now allows the wearer to carry a fragment of British history and heritage wherever they go.”
