The International Coloured Gemstone Association (ICA) has announced the retirement of its chief executive, Doug Hucker, effective 22 April 2026.
Hucker steps down after finishing a four-year term leading the global non-profit organisation. During his tenure, he focused on financial stability and increasing membership engagement following the pandemic.
The outgoing chief executive is a prominent figure in the jewellery sector, having previously served as chief executive of the American Gem Trade Association for 24 years.
Hucker also held various roles at the Gemological Institute of America earlier in his career. The ICA credited him with providing strategic leadership during a period of significant market volatility.
The association, which represents the global colored gemstone industry, stated it would announce details regarding its new leadership in the near future.
Damien Cody, president of the ICA, said: “Doug has made a significant contribution to ICA during a pivotal time for our industry. His experience, professionalism and commitment have helped strengthen the association and position it well for the future. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and service.”
Hucker added: “It has been a privilege to serve the ICA and its members. I am proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant change. These achievements reflect the collective effort of a committed board, dedicated members, and a passionate global community. I am confident the association will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”
