Dior unveils new Diorissima haute joaillerie collection

Dior Joaillerie has launched its latest haute joaillerie collection, Diorissima, at an event in Venice. 

The collection, designed by artistic director Victoire de Castellane, serves as an homage to both the House of Dior and the historic Italian city, commonly known as La Serenissima.

The 141-creation features three distinct themes: lush greenery, aquatic depths, and celestial constellations. 

Of the total pieces, 112 were unveiled during the first chapter of the launch, featuring necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets, and brooches.

The designs incorporate the doublet technique, which involves layering thin stones such as opal over chrysoprase to create nuanced colour gradations. 

This technical approach is complemented by the use of lacquer to enhance chromatic intensity and light-capture across the various gemstone compositions.

The collection draws inspiration from the art of collage and the artists admired by Christian Dior, including Matisse and Picasso. 

The botanical section of the triptych features motifs of wisteria and clover, while the aquatic realm uses blue gemstones to represent coral and sea life.

The final celestial chapter incorporates sun motifs and “happy” clouds using unexpected gemstone combinations. 

The maison stated the collection expresses “the couturier’s love for the diversity of life, from flora and fauna to his personal interest in otherworldly thinking.”

De Castellane said: “Diorissima is a magical line, an homage to the House of Dior and to Venice. Three extraordinary worlds emerge one after the other, successively revealing lush greenery, aquatic depths and mysterious constellations.

“These outstanding pieces celebrate the art of collage, paying tribute to the artists and friends admired by Monsieur Dior. They testify to the ateliers’ unparalleled savoir-faire, bringing a dreamlike triptych to life.”
