Peter Taylor MBE has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Root and Branch Awards, recognising his contribution to the UK jewellery, silversmithing and associated sectors.
Taylor has extensive experience, having held senior roles across several industry organisations, including his position as founding director of the Goldsmiths’ Centre. According to the Goldsmiths’ Centre, under Taylor’s leadership the organisation has supported thousands of apprentices, students, aspiring makers and businesses through training, mentoring, exhibition opportunities, affordable workspaces and business development programmes.
The Goldsmiths’ Centre said that Taylor has been acknowledged for his investment in strengthening resilience, creativity and long-term sustainability of the UK’s jewellery and silversmithing industry. The award was presented during the 2026 Root and Branch Awards ceremony, hosted by City Livery Club.
Commenting on the award, Annie Warburton, Clerk of the Goldsmiths’ Company, said: “This Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting recognition of Peter’s extraordinary contribution to our sector. His vision, perseverance and passion laid the foundations for the Goldsmiths’ Centre and created an organisation that continues to support generations of craftspeople and businesses.”
Warburton added: “Peter’s legacy can be seen not only in the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s award-winning building, but in the thousands of people whose careers and livelihoods have been shaped through the opportunities the centre provides. The Goldsmiths’ Company and the Goldsmiths’ Foundation are thrilled to see his achievements recognised by the City Livery Club.”
