Fei Liu earrings raise $4,864 for youth charity

Fei Liu Fine Jewellery has raised $4,864 (£3,677) for the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu after a pair of custom earrings by designer Fei Liu were sold at Bonhams.

The 18ct gold “Kiss of An Angel” earrings, set with rainbow moonstone and diamonds, were auctioned as part of the auction house’s California Jewels sale.

Bonhams promoted the piece across its social channels, where it drew notable interest from collectors. The earrings were created as a symbolic response to the region’s recovery efforts, with the shifting colours of the moonstone intended to reflect hope and renewal.

Liu said the reaction to the work had been encouraging. He said: “The ‘Kiss of An Angel’ was created to honour the tenderness and strength that emerge in the aftermath of devastation. Knowing that its sale will support the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu gives the piece a life and purpose beyond adornment.”

He added: “Seeing the earrings achieve $4,864 (£3,677) at Bonhams is incredibly rewarding. It reaffirms the power of jewellery not only to inspire but also to contribute to healing and hope.”

Vice president of philanthropy Molly Scott said the charity welcomed the support. She said: “We are incredibly grateful for Fei Liu’s generous donation. The earrings he created are beautiful and the story behind the design is powerful — a perfect tribute to the resilience of the Malibu community. We have a long road to recovery, and the funds raised will support our youth afterschool programmes, no-cost mental health services, and trauma-informed care coordination for over 2,500 individuals impacted by the Palisades Fires.”

The sale adds to Liu’s wider work to create designs that combine technical craft with personal and community narratives.
