Pragnell has revealed its Masterpiece Mosaic Pink Diamond Necklace, a one-of-a-kind creation made up of 318 hand-selected diamonds arranged in a layout inspired by ancient Roman mosaics.
The luxury family jeweller said the piece, characterised by a central mosaic motif at the front and matching rear clasp, takes its inspiration from a vintage piece that dates back to Australia’s former Argyle mine.
Each stone, of which 42 were pink and 276 were colourless, was cut to precise measurements.
The necklace took over 18 months to create, with each stone setting taking two months to craft.
Using several different techniques, two master setters spent six weeks placing down the stones, following carefully mapped plans to achieve perfect symmetry.
The brand added that its approach ensured every diamond’s individuality was preserved as they all came together to create a “harmonious composition”.
Pragnell said: “Delivering a complex suite of stones requires a far-reaching network and meticulous attention to clarity and colour across various carat weights, cuts and colours. Realising the design as a piece of jewellery that was not only beautiful but inherently wearable and elegant required meticulous craft and consideration.”
