Kerry Gregory awarded first ever Alan Hodgkinson Medal

The Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) has awarded Kerry Gregory the first-ever Alan Hodgkinson Medal to honour her contribution to gemmology.

The award honours the late gemologist and author Alan Hodgkinson, whose impact on the sector extended beyond technical expertise.

Gregory is being recognised for her commitment to making gemmological education more accessible and inclusive throughout her career. She is known for supporting students and professionals through advice, educational programmes and by providing gemstones to help reduce financial barriers to learning.

She has also been commended for her dedication to creating learning environments that support dyslexic and neurodivergent students, ensuring that traditional educational challenges do not prevent individuals from pursuing their passion for gemmology.

Externally, she has served roles as a tutor and board member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and is now a Trustee of the Silversmiths and Jewellers Charity. She sits on the National Association of Jewellers Professional Trade Standards Committee, is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and serves as a member of the British Hallmarking Council.

Her influence extends well beyond formal roles, with experience travelling to unserved regions to provide educational opportunities, to sharing technical expertise on professional forums.
