Tasaki has expanded its signature Danger collection with the launch of an original diamond cut, marking the latest evolution of the Japanese brand’s flagship range.
The new “danger fang cut” has been introduced as part of the collection first launched in 2012 and was designed under the direction of Thakoon Panichgul, creative director of Tasaki.
Inspired by sharp natural forms such as claws, thorns and carnivorous plants, the cut features 36 facets and a curved surface, with each diamond hand-polished by artisans at Tasaki’s Kobe workshop.
The launch includes an 18ct white gold statement necklace set entirely with diamonds, alongside matching earrings and pendants featuring the new cut. Tasaki has also expanded the collection with several pearl-focused designs, including the “danger links”, “danger flow” and “danger orb” ranges, which combine Akoya and South Sea pearls with sculptural gold thorn motifs.
The launch builds on Tasaki’s vertically integrated jewellery business, with the company remaining the only Japan-based De Beers sightholder, giving it direct access to rough diamonds and in-house cutting and polishing capabilities.
Panichgul said: “It’s really about the geometry: the roundness of pearls mixing with the sharpness of the fang shapes or thorn shapes. That geometry is nature’s own design language, and every form follows an innate rhythm and proportion, making it no less natural than the slow, luminous formation of a pearl.”
