Tennis bracelet searches climb ahead of Wimbledon

Consumer searches for tennis bracelets have surged ahead of Wimbledon, according to data from Google Trends.

Austen and Blake said Google Trends data showed searches for “silver tennis bracelet” had risen by 20%, while searches for “diamond tennis bracelet” were up 10%. Queries for “what is a tennis bracelet” also doubled during the month.

The company attributed the increase to growing demand for jewellery that can be worn across a range of occasions. Tennis bracelets are characterised by a continuous line of diamonds or coloured gemstones set within a flexible band.

The style is commonly associated with the sport following an incident involving professional tennis player Chris Evert during the 1978 US Open, which helped popularise the term.
